The monthly minimum wage standard applies to\u00a0<strong>full-time employees<\/strong>\u00a0while the hourly minimum wage standard applies to\u00a0<strong>non-fulltime employees<\/strong>, such as part-time and temporary employees.To be noted, the\u00a0minimum\u00a0wage\u00a0is just the\u00a0<strong>basic\u00a0wag<\/strong><strong>e<\/strong>\u00a0that employers<strong>\u00a0must<\/strong>\u00a0pay their employees, which excludes overtime pay, night shift allowance, summer high temperature allowance, the special working environment allowance, and subsidies for meals, transportation, and housing.Nevertheless, China&#8217;s minimum wage standards do include\u00a0the\u00a0social insurance premiums and housing fund contributions\u00a0paid by employees in most regions.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it is possible that the employee&#8217;s take-home pay is lower than the corresponding minimum wage standard in these regions. Meanwhile, Hebei province has announced that it plans to adjust its minimum wage standards in 2022 after completing an ongoing process of evaluation and calculation.Since 2021,\u00a0<strong>more than<\/strong><strong>\u00a020 provinces<\/strong>\u00a0in China have\u00a0<strong>raised<\/strong>\u00a0their minimum wage standard, including Anhui, Beijing, Guangdong, Hainan, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shandong, Shanghai, Shanxi, Tianjin, Tibet, Xinjiang, and Zhejiang.<\/p>\n<p>That said, amid increasingly stringent economic headwinds caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenging international environment,<strong>\u00a0Beijing<\/strong>\u00a0has confirmed that it\u00a0won&#8217;t increase\u00a0its minimum wage standard in 2022 and\u00a0<strong>Yunnan<\/strong>\u00a0has decided to defer its minimum wage standard adjustment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5615\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1022\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4.jpg 1022w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-300x114.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-768x292.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-16x6.jpg 16w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-80x30.jpg 80w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-620x235.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-460x175.jpg 460w, https:\/\/www.elitestage.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/BR4-365x139.jpg 365w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1022px) 100vw, 1022px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section><\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section><\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section>Currently,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Shanghai<\/strong>\u00a0has the<strong>\u00a0highest monthly minimum wage<\/strong>\u00a0among 31 provinces (RMB 2,590\/US$400\u00a0per month) and<strong>\u00a0Beijing<\/strong>\u00a0has the\u00a0<strong>highest hourly minimum wage<\/strong>\u00a0(RMB 25.3\/US$3.9\u00a0per hour).Eight regions \u2013 Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hubei, and Zhejiang \u2013 have surpassed the\u00a0RMB 2,000\u00a0(US$308) mark in their monthly minimum wage standards.2022 Shanghai Social Insurance Contribution Base IncreasedShanghai&#8217;s social insurance contribution base were announced by the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on July 5, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly average salary of public employees for the year 2021 is\u00a011,396 yuan.\u00a0From July 1, 2022,<strong>\u00a0the upper limit\u00a0<\/strong>of the social insurance contribution base has been adjusted to\u00a0<strong>34,188 yuan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The lower limit should be\u00a060%\u00a0of previous year&#8217;s monthly average salary of public employees.<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account the impact of COVID-19 on economic and social development and to reduce the burdens on enterprises, the lower limit will be 60% of the arithmetic average of 2020 and 2021 monthly average salary.<\/p>\n<p>From July 1, 2022, the<strong>\u00a0lower limit\u00a0<\/strong>of the social insurance contribution base is adjusted to\u00a0<strong>6,520 yuan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tx-excerpt\">According to China&#8217;s\u00a0Provisions on Minimum Wage, the legal minimum wage refers to the minimum labor remunerations that shall be paid by the employers to the employees under the precondition that the employee has provided normal...<\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5614","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Briefing on Minimum Wages &amp;
