The government hopes that the new system \u2013 laid out under the\u00a0Complementarity Assessment Framework<\/strong>\u00a0(COMPASS)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 will improve the capacity of Singaporean businesses to select high-quality foreign professionals and ensure workforce diversity.Future EP applicants must score\u00a0at least 40 points\u00a0<\/strong>under the COMPASS system, which are awarded based on\u00a0four attributes and two bonus criteria.COMPASS will come into effect for new applicants from\u00a0September 2023<\/strong>\u00a0and for renewal applicants from\u00a0September 2024<\/strong>.<\/section>\n

Under Singapore’s 2022 budget, the government announced an\u00a0<\/strong>increase to the qualifying minimum salaries\u00a0for several work permits,\u00a0primarily the Employment Pass and the S Pass permits.<\/strong>The qualifying salary threshold for EP applicants has been raised to\u00a0S$5,000\u00a0<\/strong>(US$3,694) from the current S$4,500 (US$3,332).\u00a0 The EP permit is issued to expatriates hired as managers, executives, and skilled professionals in Singapore.<\/section>\n

For\u00a0EP applicants<\/strong>\u00a0in the financial sector, the\u00a0minimum salary\u00a0has also been increased to\u00a0S$5,500<\/strong>\u00a0(US$4,064) from S$5,000 (US$3,694). The increased requirement will be applied to new applicants from\u00a0September 2022, and in\u00a0September 2023\u00a0for renewal applicants.<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n
